User review:
Really helpful course! I'm just starting out with grant writing, but I have a background in journalism. This course is definitely geared toward the person who has some skill in writing, and also has an organization in mind that they would be writing the grant for.
The only reason I'm withholding the 5th star is because I haven't finished the course, and also because I haven't done the homework yet (only because I haven't had a chance to meet with my organization's director to gather the necessary data, not because the homework directions are unclear!).
Overall, I'm glad I purchased this course, and I believe it will really help other grant writing newbies, like me, or maybe grant writing pros who have never written a boiler plate before. Recommended! [1]... Read More

Positives:
The course is wonderful for giving advice and helpful tips for writing a grant. I have written proposals in the past so some of this course was review for me, however, I still learned a lot and appreciated how much detail was given.
Negatives:
He talks a little fast for taking notes. When I first heard his speed, I thought it was really slow. However, once I reached the first point I felt I needed to take notes on, I realized how fast he was going. I would have to stop, go back and re-listen to a point 2-3 times to get the notes right (and I'm a fast typer), before continuing which made some lectures take almost twice as long.
I also was hoping there would be a practice assignment where we could start going about writing the different aspects of a grant. While it would make the class take longer (which for many could be a deal breaker), it would have helped me to be able to apply the material. [2]... Read More

User review:
I had initially considered taking a 2-day grant writing course locally for $200, but the schedule was going to be difficult for me to manage so decided to take a course through Udemy, knowing there was little financial risk if it didn't work out. Before selecting a course, I did some researching for one that had high reviews and seemed to be the best fit for a beginner. I am now on lesson 6, and as they say "you don't know what you don't know," but this course feels very thorough and I am very pleased with Mr. Goldstein's presentation and clear, no-fluff delivery. Also, I was surprised to find that Mr. Goldstein is still active on this course, offering feedback, some years after it's publishing. His presence has encouraged me to keep going and keep-up the pace. I give this course 5 stars, and offer my thanks to Udemy for making this available, and to Mr. Goldstein for all of the work and effort he has put into this course as well as for sharing his knowledge with rest of us! I am very pleased! [3]... Read More

This course was clear, direct, and informative. I left with a folder full of effective samples and examples of every step in the process. I also have a foundation to stand on since I now have a writing and researching process. I no longer feel overwhelmed or as if I'm shooting in the dark.
I'm appreciative of Dr. Bev Browning for sharing her wealth of information with such kindness, enthusiasm, and passion. She is a true subject matter expert and it's always exciting to learn from our industry leaders and veterans.
Lastly, I wanted to address the comments alluding to this course being outdated. There wasn't anything she mentioned on the 2012 grant.gov website that I could not navigate to on the 2018 website. In fact, the website has improved so much that I was able to perform each task in fewer steps! If you are tech savvy and a critical thinker, this should not be an issue for you. You will be happy to know that the grant finding and submitting process has simplified.
Again, thank you Dr. Bev Browning for your work. Peace. [4]... Read More

User review:
I felt that this course provided some good foundational concepts and rules (basically) that could be applied when writing a grant. I also appreciated Stephanie's tips on organization for the grant writing process and questions to ask oneself when writing a proposal. At the same time, I do think sometimes this course could have gone more in-depth for some topics. Also, Stephanie does share personal experience, which is nice to hear, but sometimes I wanted a bit more of that--more personal best practice tips (rather than just explanation of concepts), more strategic explanations for writing a proposal, more description of what's beyond the paperwork in completing a grant proposal. On the whole, a lot of information was covered, it felt like a good introduction at least, and Stephanie is responsive to questions, which was appreciated! [5]... Read More

This being my first experience in online learning, the first three days were challenging due to the network. Some how I could not understand the Quiz part after each session but i later understood it due to Eric's guidance.
I started enjoying the course in my first week, each section had notes that I could read but supported by videos too. Trough this, I identified many needs for the grant and started writing my application. Truth is everything has been amazing, the time frame is perfectly fine. I enjoyed my lessons and I can't wait to write a perfect grant application and send to different organizations. I have given it 4 stars (**** ) because I have not had any course with other Academies online but otherwise I could give it 5 stars. I enjoyed the experience.
